Bukoba Catholic Diocese, a faith-based organization, has a goal of uplifting the region's economically
disadvantaged communities from socio-economic hardship.
BFK's primary goal is to support Cardinal Rugambwa Memorial College (CARUMCO) by creating the recommended academic programs, funding the construction of basic infrastructure, sponsoring the training of qualified academic staff, and providing tuition grants to the neediest students.
This year (2026), we aim to complete the construction of a single-story building at CARUMCO that will feature four lecture halls, four offices, and ten restrooms. The need for this facility is real and urgent, as over the last two years, the student body has tripled from 150 to over 450, forcing some to take classes under the tree's shade.

Our Mission
According to the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics 2022, the total population in Kagera is estimated to be 2.9 million, with the largest proportions of this population living below the $1-a-day poverty line. For decades, Kagera has remained one of the least developed regions in the country. Researchers have often attributed Kagera’s poverty to being predominantly rural, wholly landlocked, remote from the coast and capital, and largely dependent on subsistence farming.

As a non-profit foundation, we are committed to empowering the less fortunate populations of Kagera through health, education, agriculture, and water projects alongside other humanitarian services.
LOCATION
Kagera Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. It covers an area of 13,778 square miles—roughly the size of Maryland. Kagera is bordered by Uganda to the north, Rwanda and Burundi to the west. To the east of Tanzania is the Indian ocean.
