According to the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics 2022, the total population in Kagera is estimated to be 2.9 million, with the largest proportions of this population living below the $1-a-day poverty line. For decades, Kagera has remained one of the least developed regions in the country. Researchers have often attributed Kagera’s poverty to being predominantly rural, wholly landlocked, remote from the coast and capital, and largely dependent on subsistence farming.
Thus, as a non-profit foundation, Brighter Future for Kagera (BFK) is committed to empowering the less fortunate populations of Kagera through health, education, agriculture, and water projects alongside other humanitarian services.
